Planned for God's Pleasure
Bringing God pleasure is the first purpose of your life! He chose to create you for His enjoyment. Know that you are a child of God and you bring Him pleasure like nothing else He has ever created. He considers you valuable enough to keep with Him for eternity!
Bringing God pleasure is called worship..and you may be surprised what that actually looks like. It may challenge what you've always thought about worship.
At the heart of worship is surrender - not a popular or positively implied word in our culture - but what is required of us in order to please God.
There are three barriers that block our total surrender to God...are you struggling with any of them yourself? Just as there are things that keep us from surrender, we can know that there are blessings when we worship God by surrendering - peace, freedom and power.
Download today's lesson and listen to the audio recording for notes.
Challenge: Share how a common, everyday task, can become an act of worship to God and in turn, bring Him enjoyment and pleasure.

I must do some unpleasant and limiting medical procedures every day of my life. It can become frustrating, depressing and frankly-painful. What has helped me all these years is to focus on God when I am setting the procedure up or doing it on myself. I think about the Godly aspect of having all of this. I think about how awesome God's blessings of knowledge and medical advances are...to have things to keep people alive, and to better their lives. I think about the lessons God has taught me and is teaching me through it. I think about the kind and compassionate people I have encountered during my life of dealing with these things, and I feel more sad for those who cannot understand or have compassion. In this way it gives God the worship and honor in even these aspects of my life. I am giving Him the most hurtful parts to use.
ReplyDeleteNancy, your life displays one of surrender and God is pleased! :)

ReplyDeleteThe common task that I enjoy doing as if it I were doing it directly for God is taking care of my family. One of the previous lessons that we had telling of how God chose us to be parents and who we would be parents of before our children were formed in my womb really spoke to me. I enjoy doing things for my children and husband because I know it is pleasing to Him and I hope that He will shine through me.
I worked for 26 years outside of my home and know how demanding life can be. When my children ask a simple thing like...if I could run by and let their dog out because they have to work late I know how much this will help them and they appreciate it as well. I love that God has given me the opportunity to spend one day a week with my granddaughter all to myself! What a blessing she is and I feel His presence when we are praying at lunch and nap time. I am so thankful to have this time to be what God wants me to be to her.
Another common task that I enjoy doing as if I were doing it directly for God is taking care of my husband with a joyful heart. This did not always come easy for me especially when I was working....yes, I even enjoy doing laundry!
Cooking...well God still is working with me on that one.
Patti - you are a great example of God's love to your family and He is pleased!
