Seeing Life from God's View

The way you see your life shapes it and the way you define your life determines your destiny. How do you picture your life? As a party? A battle (all uphill?) A roller coaster? A race?

In order to fulfill God's purposes our view of life needs to challenge conventional wisdom and replace it with biblical metaphors - those images we have of our life.

The Bible offers three metaphors that teach us God's view of life and are the foundation for purpose-driven living.

1) Life is a temporary assignment. We looked at this last week and realized that life of earth is just the dress rehearsal before the big production.

2) Life is a test. God continually tests peoples character, faith, obedience, love, intergrity and loyalty. God is constantly watching our reponse to people, problems, success, conflict, illness, disappointment and even the weather!

3) Life is a trust. We never really own anything. God loans the earth to us to enjoy while we're just passing through! But know that we will be rewarded based on how we handled the things He entrusted to us.

What will you hear when you stand before God and He evaluates how you spent your time on earth? How you did with the tests He administered and how you treated what He let you borrow?

  1. Has anything happened that wasn't a test? Ha! But seriously...to pick one, I would say it is definitely having much responsibility in my home as my parents age. I have many health issues to manage each day and the test was could I maintain the extra daily things needed to be done, and still manage my own issues. It has at times been hard, but I would say rewarding too because I stepped up to the plate and got the job done(and getting the job done!). It is affirming for me having my own disabilities to absolutely know I also have ABILITIES.God has given me a gift in that affirmation and a way to give back.
